Researchers Find Security Gap in Windows 8

Although Microsoft has not actually release Windows 8 in full until next year, but a researcher named Peter Kleissner have found ways to exploit and master this new operating system.

Kleissner create a bootkit that measures just 14 kilobytes, which exploit code can be passed through the User Account Control (UAC) and is referred to as a proof of concept (proof-of-concept) was first to discover vulnerabilities in Windows 8.

These exploits can be done in Windows 8 version of the developer, who allow an attacker to run command prompt in the system after the system is compromised accounts. This exploit can also pass through the UAC in full without the need for input from the user. It is thought as an extension of PoC that was once used to exploit Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Windows Server 2003.

This issue will likely be handled by Microsoft before the launch of Windows 8, but with the exploits shows that Microsoft should still be kept clean despite claiming to have improved safety features on the newest operating system.

Currently, Microsoft itself has increased the security of Windows Defender for Windows 8 to include real-time detection and malware protection through a filter system file, Windows 8 also ensures that when booting only validated code that is executed. Another enhancement is the expansion of some security features in the browser for all platforms and improved SmartScreen filter.
